The lingonberry is related to other members of the berry family, the Ericaceae, which includes the blueberry and cranberry. Partridgeberry, foxberry, cowberry, northern mountain cranberry, wolf-berry, dry ground cranberry, rock cranberry, tyttebaer (Scandinavia), and ling are some of the various names for the lingonberry, which is scientifically known as Vaccinium vitis-idaea.
